A conservative reader on another website took issue, reading my short vertical prose piece “Insanity,” when I addressed Trump as:

We had a polite exchange of opinions, and I ended with these thoughts: “You make some good points. I don’t think I called him Hitler. But after years of studying and writing I’ve concluded that vast numbers of people around the world are nazis, small “n”… Hamas and the Iranian leaders are nazis, for example. So are Netanyahu and his top advisers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, who, given the chance, will become the Himmler and Heydrich of Israel. They are literally trying to annihilate people in several areas of that region. Putin is a nazi or fascist, if one prefers. Every town and city in the world has that element… I’m afraid it’s human nature, especially when there is a war or other crisis. Closer to home, the Europeans who for three centuries slaughtered the Native Americans were nazis…”
Fascism will never be eradicated but surely it can be controlled.
